MATRIXX Headwall Introduction
The MATRIXX wall mounted equipment management system is recommended for any level patient care environment. It represents a cost-effective solution to manage equipment in treatment areas with limited floor space. The MATRIXX unit has been designed to enhance the critical care environment through ergonomic placement of essential services, integral lighting, and a simple, functional but soft appearance scheme. Typically, it is placed on the headwall behind the bed to serve one patient. It may also be shared between two patients if placed between adjoining beds. Each side of a MATRIXX unit can be assigned to one, well-defined treatment area, enabling staff to manage equipment and patient connections from a central position.
The MATRIXX headwall represents a new application of the proven Lifespan rail system using unique, shaped rails that position equipment within the unit’s open center. Sturdy posts at each corner allow articulated arms to hold monitors and other equipment in optimal locations determined by staff. The care staff has a lot of freedom to set up a MATRIXX work space in any way, based on personal preference, unit protocol, or institutional norms.
The MATRIXX unit improves the aesthetics of a treatment area because it resembles a window, framing the open wall space. It does not extend down to the floor or up to the ceiling, giving a patient room a more spacious ambiance. The unit’s soft, non-intrusive look takes the edge off the harsh patient care environment.
The MATRIXX unit is installed by use of brackets in which all services are terminated during rough-in and then is placed over the finished wall. The room décor can extend around the unit and through its center to help integrate the room’s colors and textures.
